1. Who we are

YouLab is an Egyptian service for booking lab tests and explaining results with AI, based in Cairo, Egypt. We are responsible for the data that reaches us through the website and the app.

The lab or medical institution you book with is also responsible for the data it needs to provide its service to you.

2. The data we collect

  • Account data: name, mobile number, email, birth year and area.
  • Addresses: the address you choose for home collection.
  • Health data: prescription photos, requested tests, results and lab reports, result explanations, and your chats with the assistant.
  • Data about family members you add: name, age, relationship and their health data.
  • Bookings and payment: appointments, amounts, payment method and transaction status. Card details are held by the payment gateway, and we do not keep the full card number.
  • Usage data: the pages and buttons you use, device type, language and IP address.
  • Your messages to us: the content and your contact details.

3. Why we use your data

  • To read prescriptions, compare labs, and show prices and times.
  • To carry out bookings and payments, and handle communication between you and the service provider.
  • To deliver your results and explain them to you.
  • To send service messages, such as booking confirmations, fasting reminders and results notices.
  • To answer your questions, and protect the service from fraud and misuse.
  • To improve the service using usage data, with no health content.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your health data to train general AI models. We send marketing messages only with your consent, and you can stop them at any time.

5. AI

The YouLab assistant uses AI services to read prescriptions, answer your questions and explain results. This means the content of your prescription, results and chat may reach the provider of that service in order to carry out your request.

The assistant can make mistakes and does not give a medical diagnosis. Talk to your doctor before any decision about your health.

6. Who can see your data

  • The lab or medical institution you book with, and the collection team: the data needed to provide its service to you.
  • Payment companies: the data needed to carry out the transaction.
  • Service providers we rely on: hosting and security (Cloudflare), AI and message delivery. They use the data only to run the service.
  • Measurement tools (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics): usage data only. We do not send them test names, results, prescription contents or chat text.
  • People you share with yourself, such as your doctor. A share link stops working on its own after 7 days.
  • Official authorities: when the law or a court order requires it.
  • YouLab staff: only those who need the data for their work.

7. Transfers outside Egypt

Some service providers, including Cloudflare and Google, run servers outside Egypt, so some data may be processed there. We transfer data in line with Egyptian law, and choose providers with a suitable level of protection.

8. How long we keep your data

Prescriptions, results, their explanations and bookings are health records, and we keep them permanently because we are legally responsible for keeping them. They are not deleted, even if you close your account.

If you close your account, the account stops and your data disappears from normal use. Health records stay stored and secured, and are reached only by those who need them for a legal reason or at your request.

We keep account and payment data for the life of the account, and afterwards as accounting and tax laws require. We keep usage data only as long as needed to measure the service.

9. How we protect your data

  • We encrypt health data in transit and at rest.
  • We limit who can reach data inside YouLab.
  • We do not write the contents of health data to application logs.

If a breach affects your data, we notify the competent authority and you within the time the law sets.

10. Your rights

  • Know what data we hold about you, and ask for a copy.
  • Correct or complete any inaccurate data.
  • Object to a particular use of your data, or ask to limit its scope.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time. This stops any new use the law does not require, and does not mean deleting the health records in section 8.
  • Ask us to delete your non-health data, except what we must legally keep.
  • Be told if a breach involves your data.
  • File a complaint with Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Center.

To use any of these rights, email us at the address at the end of this page, and we will reply within the time the law sets.

11. Children and family members

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Only a child’s guardian may add the child’s data, and the guardian is the one who agrees to its collection and use.

If you add an adult to your account, you must have their agreement to that and to sharing their health data with you.

12. Cookies and measurement tools

We use cookies and measurement tools to learn which pages and buttons are used most. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, and the website keeps working normally.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top of the page. If the change is important, we tell you in the app or by message. The Arabic version prevails if it differs from this translation.
